The Coach
Meredith Matthews brings a wealth of coaching experience to the position of Head Volleyball Coach. She began her coaching career as a freshman at Rockingham County High School in Reidsville, North Carolina, when she coached the middle school team while playing on the high school team. She continued to play and coach throughout her high school career. She then moved on to Averett University to play collegiate volleyball, but her playing career was cut short by a shoulder injury. She continued to coach at her old high school, adding the junior varsity team during her sophomore year and the varsity team for her last two years of college. In addition, she has coached Junior Olympic teams for the past five years. Matthews came to Brenau this fall to serve as a graduate assistant coach, and has now assumed the duties of head coach due to the resignation of former coach, Loren Hauck. “It has always been a dream to coach at the collegiate level, and I am really excited to have this chance so early in my career. Volleyball is my passion and I intend to work very hard to build on the work that Coach Hauck has done.” said Matthews.
